Obsteig at Mieming's Sun Plateau: Time & Space for Individualists

About 40 km in the west of Innsbruck an untouched paradise of the Alpine region is situated: Mieming's Sun Plateau. Guests enjoy the vast extent of the open plateau framed by the rough Tyrolean mountains. The region has preserved its nature and authenticity, especially because of the nature conservation area of the Lärchenwiesen fields, and has become an insiders' tip off the beaten tourism tracks.

In the sunniest region in the Tyrol clocks tick differently. Small structures, family businesses, handicraft shops and intact rural structures have grown with every generation and thus have been preserved. In the past years the number of organic farmers in the region has risen, consequently there are also more organic farm shops. Creative freelancers have moved here and are, together with local people that are committed in social economcis, a valuable human capital for the future of this region.

In 2011 the chair lift at Gruenberg was removed. Since then the region has put a special focus on gentle winter tourism in this quiet and idyllic landscape of the Sun Plateau. Only the kids area in the valley was maintained for alpine skiing.

The region more and more establishes as a holiday region for indivdualists, in winter and in summer. Guests enjoy the Alpine Park and its educational paths, the "Larchsteig" (larch tree path) around the larch tree fields, the alpine pastures Lehnberg, Simmering and Marienberg and may benefit from the numerous sports activities like snow shoe hiking, cross-country skiing (60 km of trails) and ski tours at and around the Gruenberg mountain (1,000-1,500 m). It is the perfect holiday destination for people seeking nature, simplicity, personal responsibility and community.

The region moreover has adapted to guests who arrive without their cars. With the Plateu.Card that is free as of the first night, all the regional buses of the region can be used for free (route to Innsbruck included). Guests may arrive/departure at/from the main railway station in Innsbruck, or at the railway stations in Telfs or Oetztal and can then use the free transfer service to the hotel.
